When we want to create a special baby gift for a new mom, we almost always start with a theme or a color story, and gather gifts that work together as a group. Our favorite gifts to give are those that look stylish on the shelf while at the same time fill a need. Here are some of the fun and useful gifts that we ourselves love to give. We like to mix in some things for now and later, like baby socks for now, and mealtime kits for later.
This is one of our favorite gifts to give anyone who is having a baby or already has a baby … because we know they won’t grow out of it tomorrow. They will actually grow into it and the bamboo material is sturdy enough to last through all kinds of stages from the throw-it-on-the-ground stage to the eating-with-the-grownups stage.

At the top of this page, you can see a toy that you might even remember from your own childhood. Just gently rotate and the little chickens peck the wood in a (thankfully) pleasing tapping sound. It's actually mesmerizing and sometimes the grownups play with it more than the kids.
Another favorite of ours, we love to give this soft counting book ... It is a chameleon, perfect for all kinds of stages. Until the baby is counting it can be a decorative addition to a shelf, then to the carseat for a little carpool reading, then to the little one who is learning to count. PS This gift can also be added to the mix for the new big brother or sister.

Julianna is the artist behind this collection. She was inspired by her two children and their cousin, who love all animals from ducks to dogs, goats to geese, and cows to caterpillars (not really animals, but just as lovable).
In Virginia Beach, where we live and make art, we often visit a delightful farm called Hunt Club Farm. You can feed, pet, and even hug the animals. Plus they give you birdseed "lollipops" to hold so that the feathered friends will land on your hands, and sometimes your head! Lots of joy has happened here ... and lots of photos ... very handy to have at the drawing board for capturing the adorableness of our animal friends. Hello little goat.
... so Jules was ready to create artwork for our Modern Farm collection to be sent to nurseries and playrooms across the land. GATHER A BUSHEL OF FARMYARD LOVE
Grab a cute farm crate or even a tin bucket. We found this one at Michaels . The new mom can even use this inside a closet for extra nursery supplies.
First. we layered it with tissue, then began filling from the back, letting the tissue hold the back gift higher than those in front. I began with this felt play book, that we found at Sprout, a wonderful local children's shop here in Virginia Beach.
Add your favorite unique baby gifts that can be used while the new baby is new, like socks and sleepers. Then add gifts for the toddler-phase like mealtime sets and toys. (Also great for new siblings.) Add a big bow, (also found at Michaels) and you are ready to shower your favorite new mom with a unique custom-curated gift, that answers the age-old question: "What does the cow say?"
And that's the way farm animals find their way into the nurseries of loved ones near and far. And, speaking of farm animals, I'll leave you with a little known fact about cows ...
