Hi friends. It’s Cathy reporting that game day is finally here! Do you have a sports fan on your team who would love a sports-themed space all their own? A collection of fabric wall decals created from unique original watercolor artwork. The theme is energetic, but the style is refined.
Imagine bespoke basketballs, timeless tennis rackets, stylish soccer balls, and more … We included all the heavy hitters … even pretty pickleball paddles. ;-)
I never really played sports … well, except jump rope and jacks ;-) … but all three of our girls played on school teams. And, I was definitely an overzealous soccer mom for every sport. I loved all of them. (Except super cold games, but I bundled up, picked up a coffee, and pushed through.)
And, if this collection of wall decor had been available at the time, I would have been all over the idea. As an illustrator/mom, I was a tiny bit of a control enthusiast when it came to styling the kids’ rooms … but, without a doubt, an accent wall featuring an open grid of designer lacrosse sticks would have been on my mood board, and theirs!
And since they are removable and reusable, I am certain that I would have changed them every different sports season, saving the last set for next year. (Especially if they turned out to be the lucky decals for a winning season!)
We didn’t forget the sports-loving grown-ups either. All of the sports can be styled for any age, from little leaguers to silver sluggers. One of our favorites is the golf ball set, which, when installed, feels like a modern botanical wallpaper. (And bonus points: without the higher cost of full-sheet wallpaper.)
And I’ve heard lately that if you decorate with sports, you could live until 100. Oh, wait, I think that’s actually playing them ... but, at least your room decor will inspire you to get out there every day. ;-)
The creation of this group comes straight from Julianna’s playbook and her artistic eye. So, I’ll let her tell you all about the way Game On came to life. Here’s Jules ...
“I LOVE sports. I love to play them and watch them. I played sports in high school and now I get to participate in sports all over again watching our first of two little fellas playing Little Laxers and Soccer Shots. And guess what? … it turns out that I LOVE being an overzealous soccer mom, too!
For most athletes, sports are just plain fun, but for me, they were also therapy, in a way. During my elementary school days through college, it was super hard to stay still and focused in my academic classes with my “learning style” (Dyslexia and ADHD) But I persevered with lots of help from my team of teachers and my family.
And, one of the best tricks for improving my concentration was actually discovered by my parents when I was only about 6 years old. They noticed that if they took me out to play, I came back inside ready to sit and work and solve problems … so they started taking me out to play … All. The. Time. … And to run, throw, jump, skate and swim, too.
Needless to say, I was one active gal. And, to this day, if I get stuck on a drawing or a piece of code, I just run around the block. And voila! Upon my return, the answer appears.
SO, when our awesome followers asked us for sports, we moved it up on our roster ... but we wanted it to be just right. Now that I’m an illustrator/mom, I’m the one who wants to design those perfect kids’ rooms ... for them and for me!
For a theme like sports, we knew we wanted the style to be a little bit less loud, and the color story to be a little bit more refined. So after lots of trial-and-error, the perfect blend of theme and style emerged. The watercolor textures combined with modern accents of screenprint markings gave all the sets an elevated look that celebrates sports AND design. I hope you have fun choosing from 21 sets of elegant equipment for your favorite sports fans. I sure had fun making them.”
So that’s the birth story of Game On. With it’s classic styling, each set can be used for all kinds of spaces from baby nurseries to game rooms, from locker rooms to birthday parties … and of course that winning end-of-season party that the MVP of soccer moms puts on every year. Go you!
