Trains are a major hit in our house. In fact, if there's a train at the zoo, we will be on it. At the mall? Yep! We're the family stuffed into the last car that's far too small for adults. Those old-school cabooses outside the grocery store? Hi, that’s us. If it has wheels and a whistle, we’re on it.
That full-throttle train obsession inspired this brand-new set of watercolor wall decals, and we’re beyond thrilled to finally bring it to life for all our fellow train-loving families.
And those families? You're the other big reason this collection exists. We’ve received so many sweet emails and DMs simply saying, “Train Wall Decals, please.” So we bumped it right to the top of our to-do list.
Before I ever picked up a brush, I guess you could say the artwork started deep in my DNA. My mom found this old photo of me and my sister riding the Zilker Zephyr in Austin, where I grew up. I know I don’t look overjoyed, but I was. I think I was actually both terrified and thrilled at the same time.
And my mom? She’s holding me that tightly because I was known to dart—and she wasn’t about to let me leap off a moving train, even if it was only going 5 mph.
So not only am I making railway memories with our little family, but I also have my own tiny train adventures tucked in my heart. All of that made me extra excited to add some adorable locomotives to our Away We Go collection.
Everything in this collection is made for little ones who love things that go… and their grownups who love a thoughtfully designed space. So we skipped the bright primary colors and went with a more designer-friendly palette—muted orange, dusty olive, slate blue.
Each piece began as hand-painted watercolor artwork. Then we added a little digital magic and voilà—removable, reusable fabric decals with zero sticky residue.
Our boys love to play with a cherished set of Brio wooden trains gifted by my parents’ best friends when they became grandparents. So we thought—why not bring that same fun to the walls? The tracks come in pieces so you and your little engineers can build your very own railway adventure.
Our youngest has just started talking and one of his favorite things to yell—I mean say—is CHOOOOO. So here you are buddy! Your very own CHOO-choo train set on the wall. And for all our train-loving followers, we hope this backdrop brings joy to bedtime stories and daytime dreaming about a little train that could.
We hope these new trains bring a little extra joy (and a lot of imagination) to your space. We love seeing how you decorate—so keep those photos and reviews coming! You inspire everything we do.

The Author: Julianna Larsen
Julianna is a lead illustrator and designer at Mej Mej, and the "daughter" half of the mother-daughter artist duo behind all of our artwork. Her creative journey began in her mother's art studio where she learned to use pencil and paint long before she could spell "art." After earning degrees in fine art and design, she now creates in her own studio—with two little boys watching her work, just like she once watched her mom. From watercolor to digital art, Julianna brings imagination to life in every piece. Together with her parents, Cathy and Jim, and her husband, Anton, she helps design, manufacture, and ship unique children’s gifts to families around the world.
We are so happy you are here. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! We respond to emails during the work week M-F, 9-5 EST.
